John Lynch works predominantly in Printmaking, using a range of methods, currently creating highly technical works which finalise in multi block woodcut. Lynch combines photographic, hand drawn and digitally created designs which merge into one final outcome as Woodcut prints. Industrial methods of mass print production are combined with traditional methods of printmaking, utilising traditional Japanese methods of block creation. The work deals with notions of consumer systems within visual culture in a politically volatile era, depicting iconic visualisations of power, beauty, and urban states of ruin and decay inspired by daily sights, consumer culture, current affairs, film and literature. John Lynch has been awarded top prizes for the Neo Print Prize 2012 and Royal Birmingham Society Art Print Biennial 2014.
