Kelly Stewart was born in Sydney Australia and moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to pursue her illustration career and to be immersed in European Architecture, which provides an endless source of inspiration. She joined Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop in 2001 and has predominantly worked with the silk screen process ever since. Kelly likes to work fast, with a multitude of layers and a broad spectrum of colours. Screen printing enables her to combine drawings, textures, pattern and handwritten text into the composition with endless opportunity. Kelly enjoys travelling to the old towns of European cities to explore and photograph the traditional architecture. Kelly Stewart was voted UK printmaker of the Year 2012 by Printfest, and has exhibited in the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts and won the City Of Glasgow prize.
